The Seige Of Praugoth

It was a bright day in the town of Praugoth, a small farming town with little economic value yet one key advantage, food supplies, the CCCP forces had gathered just outside the town as TAT prepaired its defencive line, capturing this point would be a small but sure start to the CCCP forces achieving a full victory over this campaign area.

The city itself was an ideal terrain for gurrelia warfare, though not compleatly tight, the closed spaces made it difficult for infantry units to traverse should a retreat be neccicary.

This was a death trap but equally a well defencable one, The Azure Templar had set up their line atop the hillside making it a difficult suicidal assault for the CCCP companies.

However, the CCCP using their vast superiourity of weapons, men, and money, had the upperhand of highly mobile supply lines thus meaning that both sides would have an even chance of victory

Diederich peered at the three men, on theire knees in the mud, with theire hands tied behind theire back. They were delivering supplies to the TAT forces, but were captured half a mile away by Black Rose soldiers. The The BR officers were busy developing battle tactics, and since the men didnt have any useful information, theire were to be executed.

Diederich pulled his gun and shot the first of the three, in the head. Most people would stand behind them while doing so, but Diederich liked looking into the eyes of his "victims".
He quickly finished off the last two, and then went back to stand guard just inside the door of the tent they had put up to protect the papires and the officers from the rain, while they were planning theire next move.


The officers peered at the map, moving theire little bricks over the map simulating the positions of the troops. Theire were obviously struggeling with the situation and were cursing quite a bit. Diederich took a step forward
- "Premition to speak freely, sir?!"
The officer looked at him, and nodded slowly.
Diederich walked up to the map and started moving some of the bricks,

- "If we move a few platoons to the north-west, to the fields, we have a perfect oppertunity to flank the enemy from the north if we manage to manouver the troops without beeing seen, that way we surround the northmost enemy troops, for so to weaken theire flank, if this works, we will be able to work our way down and eliminate all the opposing troops."

He stood silently, awaiting an answer from the officers, theire were quite surprised by his approach, and were now calculating the idea. They realized that it might actually work, but they werent going to take action just yet, they gave a satesfied nod, and Diederich returned to his place by the door.

Hans Gothenwald clicked his tongue. A bad habit he'd taken to do because of his stressful life. He then bowed down, inspecting the map. Shuffling a bit to the right, then to the left, the other officers watched him as his expression changed into that of an grumpy old man. Hans was at a loose end. Would this be any good?

He stood up in his full height, quite tall as he was when he straightened his back. "Reinhardt!" he yelled in a commanding tone, his colleagues eyeing him with their eyebrows quirked.

Diederich walked right up to the officer and entered a straight and firm position.
- "Yes, Sir!"
He now stood silently.

Reinhardt, yes. He'd so perfectly. He was a good soldier - Although Hans didn't know much about him, he'd reckon his skills were quite appropriate.

"Reinhardt, I have a job for you. Just a few miles down the road to the east a couple of suspicious-looking humans were lurking earlier today. What I want you to do is grab a few men and head down that road, see if you can find out who they were and if they're still there", Hans went on in a stricter tone, ".. this may seem simple, but it's quite important that it's all done discreetly".

The officer then nodded firmly, clicked his tongue, and waved Reinhardt off, guessing he'd accepted the task already.

Quircing a brow, thinking it was a quite strange order, didnt they have sergeants to do this type of work?
Diedrich knew better than to question a officers orders, and nodded and walked out of the tent, and started looking around for vacant soldiers.

Laying about in the grass were a handful of soldiers, all clad in their battlegear what shone in the sun. A few raised their heads in acknowledgment of Diederich's presence, but most of them let him stand unnoticed.

Diederich looked at the slumbering soldiers, he knew that he wasnt one of the most popular soldiers amongst the force, and therefore this was going to be hard. He walked up to them.
- "You five are coming with me, we are going on a mission down the road to investigate some...peculiar citizens".

The biggest of the soldiers replied "Who made you boss?"

- "Gothenwald made me boss, you silly excuse for a soldier, now get up of your lazy behind and get your gear"

The soldier stood up and put a threatening finger against Diederichs upper chest.
Diederich pulled his gun without hesitation and put a bullet in the soldiers head.

The remaining soldiers sprung to theire feet, not debating Diederichs words and headed with him down the road where supposedly the 'lurking citizens' were resided.

The air above the dusty east road shimmered of warmth, even if it was almost unnoticeable because of the fresh wind what swept the landscape.

The soldiers saw nothing peculiar as they walked down the road, a few animals here and there, until they reached a fallen tree that had been dragged out onto the road, as of stopping supply-carts from reaching the base up the road.

The scent of danger was in the air, Diederich recodniced the tactic of putting down a tree to prevent any kind of mobile transport or weapons entering, he took his binoculars which hanged around his belt, and searched the area.

At first nothing came into sight. The landscape was beautiful, but the details remained unclear as Diederich searched for something far more specific. Movement.

At last, a black figure! Crowded behind some bushes near the road, seemingly this figure carried nothing but a fishing-pole and a big straw-hat, but couldn't this be another link in the trap?

The soldiers seemed uneasy as they drew their weapons, peering back and forth as one of them grabbed his binoculars and searched the area, too. He let out a yell.

"There's someone over there!".

Only he pointed in another direction that the one Diederich was looking towards.

Diederich turned calmly, with his gun in his hand, peering into the direction of which the soldier had pointed in, attemting to discover what he was looking at.

Three human men calmly walked in their direction, one of them pulling a small cart behind him. They looked to be a bit past their 50's, walking slowly as they laughed at a joke one of them had just said. They carried big worn traveler's cloaks and wore big brown leather hats, not completely hiding their thinning, gray hair.

The soldier what had yelled scratched his chin slowly, peering at Diederich out the corner of his eye, seemingly worried he'd called a fake alarm.

Diederich peered at the approaching men.

-"You, get in position and do not leave them out of the sight of your rifle."
He said to one of the soldiers holding a automatic rifle.

-"You come with me" He sais to a different soldier, for so to order the rest to stand guard.

Diederich slowly approached the cart, with his gun in his hand

-"Halt!"

"Wha, what's this?" one of the men spoke in a slow, dry sort of way.
"My my, we're being robbed!", the man with the cart went as he shook his head.

The third man stopped and faced them with suspicion on his face, reaching for something in his cloak-pocket.

"Whoever ya are, dontcha' dare steal from ole' Gambit and friends! We're honest merchants, we are!", he said, pulling a small fishing-knife.

The other men grabbed his arms carefully, shaking their heads. "Gambit, Gambit, have you gone stark raving mad?! These men are merely controlling the road, don't you see their uniforms?" the man with the cart went in a soothing tone, looking to Diederich with a begging sort of look.

The other man stepped forward ever so slightly, not releasing Gambit's arm. "I apologize, sir. Old Gambit has had some run-ins with soldiers in the past, he doesna' trust them. Please excuse us..." he bowed his head in respect, awaiting an answer.

-"Well you tell 'old gambit' that if he doesnt drop the knife, and continues his hostile behaviour, i will put him down for the sake of the nation".

Diederich used his vacant hand to wave forth one of the soldiers to search the men, and the cart, while still holding his gun aimed at the men.

The soldier quickly came forth to search the cart, Diederich not letting the men out of his sight.

The men stepped together, facing the soldiers with widened, concerned eyes as they searched them.

What they found consisted of:

One fishing knife, held by Gambit.
Several fishing-hooks in Greall's (the man with the cart) pocket.
The cart holds: Two barrels of ale, some folded cloth, three shovels and two fishing poles.

Gambit slowly handed over the knife to one of the soldiers as Diederich watched him, seemingly very displeased in doing so.

-"Verywell, you may pass."

Diederich stood still in his position while the men passed by, still holding his gun, but seased aiming, he kept eyecontact with Gambit.

Gambit walked past Diederich... And slowly stopped a meter from him, giving him a glare so strong some of the soldiers pulled their weapons again.

"Ya just stay outta' this lands business, ya hear?" he said in a grumpy sort of voice before being pulled away by Greall and the other man, all three of them hurriedly scuffling down the road.

Their whispers could be heard for a few meters.

"You're outta your damn mind, Gambit! Talking to an officer like that, he could cut your head off right this damn instant and no-one would help you!"

Gambit shook his head and patted the shoulders of his comrades, letting out a deep sigh.

Diederich calmly turned around, raised his gun, and sent a bullet flying into Gambits back head, blood spraying his two mates.

-"People like him has no place in this world, these are new times, and we need to replace the rusty parts"

Diederich sheated his Jagerfaust, and rounded up the soldiers, looking around in his binoculars again, attemting to see any other threats.

Greall and Gamen looked at Gambit's dead body. They then turned their heads, shallow and empty expressions shown on their wrinkled faces.

"You... Gambit...", Greall started, swallowing something,".. he's de..", Gamen continued with a soft sob, ".. dead..".

Leaning down towards Gambit they both took off their leatherhats, slowly removing his too, revealing more blood than they'd hoped for.

"... Brother...", Gamen went, slowly turning the body to place the hat on Gambit's chest, Greall folding his arms. ".. We'll miss you, brother", Greall finished, tears in his grayed eyes.

The brothers then removed the stuff from the cart, placing the deceased in it instead, pulling over the cloth.

The barrels of ale remained there, bloodstained here and there.

Diederich didnt react at all to the two mens uttering, and just continued to search the landscape for any other details.

As several CCCP troops were gathered infront of him, the HQ commander of the Templar peered down at them, he smiled grimly.
"your friends have shown us quite a bit of mercy latley!" he mockingly yelled as his fellow comrades laughed at them insultingly.
"p-please we havent do-"
Drawing his blade the man impaled the talking prisoner of war and mercilessly sliced him in half peeling the prisoner.
The others trembled as the manical commander glared down at them, spending a moment to think of a fate fitting for them, then smirked gleefully at his quiet decision. "Have them hung in public" he stated, as two darkbane leigonaries grasped the prisoners one by one in a formation, the sounds of screaming men and women alike begging for mercy as they were dragged off was like music to this mans ears. "It gives me a shiver of pleasure every time I hear them beg, and a shiver more knowing that they will show me exactly the same kind of mercy in turn.... So.... I would order every last soldier of their beloved Pact killed on sight!"
With a roar of approval his men cheered as he gleefully smiled he walked into the city of Praugoth retreating to the governers house, now having been remade into a minature fortress with the use of sandbags and some more light defencive equipment.

Realizing there was no more apparent threats to look into, Diederich and the rest of the group headed back to the main battle camp. Diederich returning to the officers tent, to report the findings to officer Gothenwald.

Hans Gothenwald was in a sorry state. Constantly clicking his tongue now, Hans walked around the tent, peering at the cloth-walls what encased him.

What could he do?

Seemingly nothing, he concluded. Oh well, it was but a small shipment...

He stirred as Diederich entered his tent.
